Why should you travel around Seville by car?

When you travel to Seville, you can stick to the city and thoroughly explore it, or you can spend a week or two and go to several destinations so that you can see more of the country and get a sense of all that makes it great.

There can be great differences from city to city or province to province, so traveling around will give you a much better sense of the Spanish culture.

There’s also something that I love about driving in a different country: it gives you a number of new experiences that will become great stories. Don’t stick to the typical roads. Get off the main highways and explore the unknown.

Save time and money booking your car rental in advance. You can hire it online right now!

It’s the best way to get around Andalucía

When you look into buses, trains and hiring a car in Andalucía as a means of completing your southern Spain itinerary, renting a car is always the best and most comfortable option.

Train routes in Andalucía are good, with fast high-speed trains linking Málaga, Seville and Córdoba.

They don’t, however, work out very well when trying to incorporate Ronda, any of the White Villages, or other remote but charming destinations into your itinerary.

You can do what you want, when you want

One of the biggest benefits is flexibility. You can basically stop your car anywhere you want.

In addition to this, you can travel at you own pace. So you can visit a destination in a few hours or spend as much as you want depending on whether you like it or not.

It’s easy to get a very cheap rate

Because the competition among car rental companies is so fierce, they usually offer really good deals and a wide range of cars.

But most importantly, when you look at the cost of train tickets for two travelers and compare it to hiring a car, there is little in the difference.

Weighing it up, it’s worth the flexibility of having a car at your disposal for your particular itinerary.

It’s a very comfortable way of traveling

A car rental in Seville allows visiting remote places, hidden trails or restaurants with a view, impossible to get to by other means of transportation.

Also, there is nothing better than a car waiting for you at the railway station or airport (no extra fees for a taxi!). Once you get there, you’re ready to go!

Oh, and you don’t need to carry your luggage to the bus, train or metro…

Skip long check-in and security lines

Forget about lengthy check-in procedures when traveling by car: there is no need to go through any security screening!

Your rental car is always reliable and on schedule

You don’t need to rely on a schedule and deal with delays. Your rental car is always going to be on time for you.

However, I won’t lie to you: you may run into traffic jams getting to or exiting some of the big cities. So try to avoid rush hours.

Your budget may significantly decrease if you divide expenses

Imagine four of you are traveling, and you decide to rent a car instead of using public transport. And even if renting car and paying for fuel may turn out into quite much money, if there are four of you and you divide all expenses for four persons – it will be cheaper for sure.

Where should you pick up your car rental in Seville?

You have two pick up options for your rental car in Seville.

Seville Airport

The first option is to pick up your car at Seville Airport.

This should be your preferred choice if you intend to leave the city right away after landing and start a road trip.

Keep in mind that Seville Airport is not near the center of the city so reaching or exiting it will take you time and cost you money.

Read the following guides with all the practical information you need to know:

Santa Justa train station

The second option is to pick up your car at Seville’s main train station.

This should be your preferred choice if you

  • Intend to leave the city after having visited it and start a road trip.
  • Have already explored Seville, but want to go on one or several day trips. If you plan to go back and forth to Seville, make sure your hotel offers you a car parking option.

Santa Justa station is not near the center of the city, so you don’t have to do any driving on little narrow one-way streets.

As a matter of fact, the train station is very close to a large artery leading out of the city where you can take the outbound highway, called SE-30.

If you get clear directions at the rental office, you shouldn’t have trouble leaving the city. Get out of the station and after a few blocks, you’ll be on Avenida Kansas City. This is a wide boulevard that will lead you to the beltway around the city (SE-30).

At the same time, getting to Santa Justa from the city center (or vice versa) is easy, so it can be the perfect pick up/drop off location.

For how long should you rent a car in Seville?

If you’re staying in Seville, getting around is a breeze with its top-notch public transport and walkable streets.

But if you’re itching to see more, renting a car is a great way to explore Seville’s beautiful surroundings at your own pace.

A short trip of 3 or 4 days is perfect for a quick taste of the region. You’ll have enough time to check out some must-see spots like Carmona, Utrera, and Osuna, plus dip into the charming countryside – think places like the Sierra Norte.

To really soak in what these quaint towns offer, consider extending your stay to 5 to 7 days. This longer visit lets you explore more thoroughly lovely destinations such as Ronda, Jerez de la Frontera, the Pueblos Blancos (White Villages), Doñana National Park or Estepa. You can visit popular landmarks when they’re less crowded, uncover hidden gems, and enjoy the scenic routes without rushing.

For a deeper dive into Spain’s rich culture and sights, you might want to spend at least a week or two exploring other regions such as the rest of Andalucía, Extremadura, or Madrid. Each has its own unique attractions and activities that deserve a leisurely visit.
