The Hotel Alfonso XIII is named after King Alfonso XIII who reigned from 1886 to 1931. It was constructed in the late 1920s to house international dignitaries that visited Seville in 1929 for the celebration of the Ibero-American Exposition World's Fair.
Update: In March 13th, 2012, the Hotel Alfonso XIII was reopened after a complete restoration.

Today, it is one of the most prestigious hotels in Europe and usually hosts members of the Royalty and international celebrities.
The architect in charge of the project was Jose Espiau y Muñoz. He was the brother-in-law of the chief architect of the Exposition, Anibal Gonzalez.
The Hotel Alfonso XIII was built according to the Mudejar style, in fashion at the time. The idea was to emulate the artistic and architectural style developed by the Arabs centuries ago as well as creating a harmony with other structures built then such as the Plaza de España, the Museo Arqueologico or the Museo de Artes y Costumbres.
As a result, the building is a combination of tradition and luxury with a tile work that is just breathtaking.

Facilities: Being a luxury hotel, the facilities are just endless. From a complete room service to a friendly concierge that can arrange day trips to nearby towns. You can add to this a swimming pool, a fitness center, a beauty salon and a barber shop and even private transfers. It also has two restaurants and three bars to enjoy a great meal or a light snack. Well, everything you might need or imagine.
First of all because of its pool! Surrounded by beautiful gardens it is just great to have this little oasis in the center of Seville. I also love its gardens where you can go for a walk and the courtyard where you can have a coffee or a tea.
Then, the staff is just amazing. Helpful, extremely polite and friendly, they will ensure that your stay is relaxed and perfect.

Finally, the location is excellent, just a couple of minutes walking from the Cathedral and the Giralda tower, the Royal Alcazar, the old Jewish quarter, the Royal Tobacco Factory and a short walk from the Maria Luisa Park and the Plaza de España.
Just a downside though...
The high rates!! Obviously these environment and services cost a price and not everyone can afford it.
