Car Rental
Sevilla Rent a Car Companies

In terms of car rental Sevilla offers you many options. You may chose among the traditional companies (e.g. Avis, Hertz) but there are also a bunch of low cost companies with very competitive prices. Depending on your needs you can also chose to rent a car at the airport, the train station or the city center.

Looking for a car rental? Sevilla is better by foot!

The only reason to rent a car in Seville is just because you plan to travel out of the city and go to other great destinations in Andalucia (Granada, Cordoba, Ronda or the coast where you can spend a few days at some gorgeous beaches...).

Actually, if you plan to drive around Seville try to avoid the city center. This area is a challenging maze, and instead of having a great holiday you'll have a hard time trying to find your way out.

If, by any chance, you are getting to Sevilla by car -because you rented it somewhere else or because you are making a road trip in Spain-, you should definitely consider parking the car in a nice cheap surveilled parking. Leave it there and use other means of transport to move around. My favorite one is walking ;-)

If you insist on a car rental, Sevilla has a variety of cheap companies

Obviously, if you are a traveller with a customer or preferred card you'll be interested in the usual Avis, Hertz, National Atesa, Europcar, Sixt and so on. All of them have central offices in Seville as well as at the airport and the Santa Justa train station.

But if you are a casual customer, you should try the following ones.

AurigaCrown - My favorite car rental. Sevilla is full of options but I prefer AurigaCrown because I always find the best prices and the cars are very good. The company has a couple of offices, one just across the train station and the other one at the Seville airport terminal.

Record Rent a Car - It is also a very good option with a large offer of cars and prices. The main downside is that it has only one office and it's located at the airport.

Goldcar - Great deals and a very large range of cars. The office is located at the airport outside the terminal in an industrial area. Someone from Goldcar will be waiting for you at the Arrivals with a sign to transfer you to the office, if you have booked a car in advance.

PepeCar - It has an agreement with Niza Cars, a company with 2 rental offices. The first one is a couple of minutes walking from the train station. The second one is at an industrial area near the airport. A PepeCar representative will be waiting for you at the terminal hall to drive you to the office, if you have booked a car in advance. Their prices are generally very cheap and they offer pretty good deals, especially in economic and compact cars. If you have a problem, contact Niza Cars directly. The PepeCar phone numbers will cost you a fortune.

Some useful tips

1. Verify that you can drive with your driving permit in Spain! Or carry with you an international driver's licence.

2. Don't forget to print the reservation confirmation email or write down the booking number.

3. If you plan to rent a car at the airport, be sure to give your flight number and scheduled arrival time. If the flight is delayed, your car rental reservation will be preserved.

4. Make sure the car has air conditioning! It would be really odd if a car rental in Sevilla offers you a car without air conditioning. But confirm it, just in case.

5. Once you verify this, check out that the engine is powerful enough to cope with some decent speed and the air conditioning. Last time I rented a car I had to drive at 80km/h (50 mi/h) on the highway because the poor thing couldn't handle going uphill!

6. Specify to the car rental company that you don't want a full tank by the time you pick up your vehicle. The company will charge you a fortune for this gasoline.

7. The same rule applies when you drop off the car. The tank has to be at the exact same gasoline level that when you picked it up. Otherwise, you've guessed it... extra charge.

8. Before leaving the car rental office, check the car mileage and all the scratches, dents and other damages the car may have. If you notice something that has not been reported in your contract, tell the staff immediately.

9. Read the insurance conditions and don't be shy to spend a bit more on an additional coverage if you plan to drive a lot.

10. Make sure you have a map (much better than a GPS). Buy it or ask for one at the car rental: Sevilla is an easy place to get lost. And read more about the driving laws in Spain.
